The St. Thomas men’s hockey team announced its 2022-23 CCHA schedule, which features 14 of 26 games on home ice at St. Thomas Arena.
The Tommies season will open the season on Oct. 28 with a series on the road against Ferris State, whom St. Thomas collected two of its three wins against last season. The home opener will take place Nov. 4 when the Tommies take on CCHA champion and NCAA championship runner-up Minnesota State-Mankato; St. Thomas went 0-6 against the Mavericks last season, with the closest loss being a 3-2 loss during the first round of the CCHA playoffs.
Softball split its home doubleheader Tuesday against Green Bay, winning 9-1 and losing 5-3. First-year pitcher Christina Crawford dominated on both sides of the ball in game one, going 3-3 with a three-run home run and pitching all five innings.
Baseball second baseman Sam Kulesa was named Summit Player of the Week Monday for his performance over the week prior. This marks Kulesa’s first weekly honor of his career.
Kulesa was a centerpiece in the Tommies’ offense this past week, going 7-for-14 over four games. He boasted a .500 slugging percentage and a .533 on-base percentage against Minnesota and Western Illinois.
Track and field competed Wednesday at the Tommie Twilight Meet. Eighteen St. Thomas runners, relays and field events finished in the top three.
