The University of St. Thomas has been going through some changes, especially on South Campus with the construction of the Schoenecker Center, which will be completed in spring of 2024.
Since the end of August, the Summit Classroom Building renovation has been completed. It is home to the Morrison College of Family Health along with the School of Social Work and can be found next to McNeely Hall.
The new Schoenecker Center will house classes for a multitude of majors involved with science, technology, engineering, arts and math.
First-year engineering student Elizabeth Lor expressed her excitement for the future Schoenecker Center.
“There’s going to be more opportunities for engineering students,” Lor said.
There are also utility tunnels being built underground Owens Science Hall, Schoenecker Center and Facilities and Design Center. Those tunnels will be used to cool, heat and contain water and are not for pedestrian use, according to David Clysdale, the shift manager for construction.
On North Campus, the St. John Vianney College Seminary is coming to its final stages of completion. This five-story building will have meeting rooms and residence halls for priests and seminarians along Selby Avenue.
The project will be completed on Feb. 21, according to an article by TheCatholicSpirit.com.
“The seminary is more than just a building,” the Rev. Jonathan Kelly said in a statement. “It’s a home where seminarians grow in discipleship and learn to make a sincere gift of themselves to others.”
