Swimmer Mallory Weggemann, of Eagan, Minn., captured her first gold medal Sunday night at the 2012 London Paralympic Games. Weggemann used the Anderson Athletic & Recreation Complex to train for the games.
Swimming in the 50 freestyle, Weggemann set new Paralympic and American records with a time of 31.13 seconds. Weggemann will swim heats Tuesday to qualify for the 100 backstroke.
