Amy Klobuchar is ending her Democratic presidential campaign and plans to endorse former Vice President Joe Biden.
The Minnesota senator’s decision to leave the race came just 18 hours before Super Tuesday in 14 states, including Minnesota.
Her exit means Minnesota, her home state, is up for grabs on Tuesday.
A Star Tribune poll, released Feb. 23, found Klobuchar with a narrow lead over Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, who won Minnesota in 2016.
She placed a disappointing sixth in both the Nevada caucuses and the South Carolina primary after a surprising third-place finish in the New Hampshire primary in February.
Klobuchar was the third presidential candidate to drop out of the race in less than 49 hours, after Pete Buttigieg’s exit late Sunday and Tom Steyer’s Saturday.
A shrinking group of other Democrats vowed to press on, potentially toward a contested convention.
