Timberwolves and Wild tickets are on sale at the St. Thomas’ Box Office & Expeditions, starting at 8 a.m. Monday.
Tickets are available for one Timberwolves game in November and two Wild games in December and February. Tickets range from $20 to $22. All games start at 7 p.m., and there will not be a St. Thomas-sponsored bus to the sporting events.
Offering opportunities for more than sporting events
The Box Office rents recreational items and provides tickets for cultural and athletic events for students, faculty and staff. This semester, the Box Office is also offering discounted tickets for many different events.
“I think the Box Office is important, especially for freshmen, because it is a huge step out of the box,” said Lauren McTernan, a student worker at the Box Office. “They get to go and experience all these things throughout the Twin Cities that they might not otherwise be able to.”
Earlier in the semester, the Box Office sold discounted tickets to the award-winning musical “Wicked.” It also sold tickets for sporting events such as the Minnesota Twins, Minnesota Vikings and Minnesota Wild games. More discounted tickets for sporting events will be available in the future.
The expeditions division of the Box Office provides many recreational items. Students can rent tents, sleeping bags and other camping necessities for weekend camping trips. Bikes are also available to rent. While the camping equipment and bikes require a small fee, items such as Frisbees, tennis rackets and other sporting goods can be checked out for free.
Campus Connections
The Box Office has a partnership with the Ordway Center in St. Paul called Campus Connections. This partnership was established in 2009 through a grant from the Wallace Foundation and its purpose is to make college students more interested in the arts.
“The intent of the Campus Connections program is to integrate the arts more deeply into life at St. Thomas, with the help of touring artists and programs that are part of the Ordway’s performing arts season,” said Amy Miller, community events coordinator for the Ordway.
The Box Office offers discounted tickets to upcoming theatrical, musical and dance performances at the Ordway. The Ordway also can bring artists and performers to St. Thomas to speak in classrooms or hold workshops.
Macalester College and Metropolitan State University in St. Paul are also part of the Campus Connections program.
“The Ordway hopes to engage students attending college in the Twin Cities, sharing with them the importance of the arts so they will continue to be active in the arts as they stay in the Twin Cities,” Miller said.
Anne Josten, Campus Connections student adviser, said, “Preserving the arts is extremely important and this partnership makes it possible for us to realize that the arts are a part of different parts of an academic life.”
“The arts are not just for musicians and painters and dancers; the arts also involve engineers and express ideas that come up in psychology and religion,” she added.
