Construction crews break ground on new student center

Construction started Tuesday on the new Anderson Student Center. The City of St. Paul granted the highly anticipated permits Monday, allowing OPUS to break ground on the 20-month project.

The $66 million, 225,000-square-foot student center will feature four bowling lanes, a giant dance floor and an 1,800-square-foot atrium.

Purple reign: Lacrosse wins second-straight national title

The men’s lacrosse team may need extra time in baggage check, because it’s returning from the national tournament in Denver with some championship hardware.

The Tommies successfully defended its national championship Saturday by defeating Utah Valley University 12-9.

“Unbelievable. It hasn’t really sank in yet,” junior Joe McCullagh said.

Lacrosse team tops Davenport, moves on to national finals

The men’s lacrosse team beat Davenport University Friday afternoon 17-9 to advance to the Division III national championship in Denver.

“It’s undescribable,” junior Joe McCullagh said. “Everyone was going crazy in the locker room.”

Junior Joey Costello led the Tommie offensive attack with four goals, and junior Cooper Mazon and sophomore Tony Sadder each had four goals to contribute to the Tommie scoring buffet.

Baseball splits with Cobbers on Dennis Denning Day

St. Thomas started off its doubleheader against Concordia–Moorhead with a 12-0 shutout Saturday afternoon at Koch Diamond, but couldn’t keep the momentum going as the Tommies dropped the second game 5-1.

“The first game went well,” senior Roy Larson said. “It was nice to start out with good pitching and hitting performances.”
