A man who kept a chokehold around the neck of an agitated fellow passenger turned himself in to authorities. The U.S. is putting new restrictions into place at its southern border to try to to stop migrants from crossing illegally. The University of St. Thomas community awoke to a video released online by O’keefe Media Group that shows a conversation with a residence life administrator about campus housing policies for transgender students.

This week marks the end of coronavirus restrictions on asylum that have allowed the U.S. to quickly expel migrants at the southern border for the last three years. U.S. Rep. George Santos, infamous for fabricating his life story, pleaded not guilty Wednesday to charges he duped donors, stole from his campaign and lied to Congress about being a millionaire, all while cheating to collect unemployment benefits he didn’t deserve. The U.K. is sending Ukraine long-range cruise missiles to help push back Russian forces, British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace said Thursday. It’s the first known shipment of the weaponry that Kyiv has long sought from its allies.

The shooter who killed eight people at a Dallas-area mall was wearing a patch that read “RWDS” — short for “Right Wing Death Squad.” The Minnesota Senate approved a plan Monday to entitle workers across the state to paid leave when they’re sick or caring for relatives who are ill. St. Thomas Health and Exercise Science students attended the Northland Region of the American College of Sports Medicine Conference to learn from professionals and compete in the Quiz Bowl.

May 6, was the Kentucky Derby, which was marred by controversy due to several horses dying prior to the race. The St. Thomas softball team secured two wins out of three against Kansas City this past weekend, finishing the season 18-35 overall, which was three more wins than the 2022 season.
