Wednesday classes canceled due to weather

All in-person classes on Wednesday, Feb. 22, are canceled starting at 6 a.m. according to an email and text sent to the St. Thomas community by Public Safety. Executive Director Owen Larson and Managing Editor Sam Larson have the story.

The St. Paul Police Department was on the scene of a fatal two-vehicle crash on Cretin Avenue North. Michigan State University students and faculty returned to the East Lansing campus Monday. A baby girl who was born under the rubble of her family’s earthquake-shattered home has left the hospital and gone to her new home.

One person was killed and three more were wounded Wednesday in a shooting at a shopping mall in El Paso, Texas. Two sheriff’s deputies who have been suspended for five days for their role in the arrest of Tyre Nichols failed to keep their body cameras activated after they went to the location where Nichols had been beaten by five Memphis police officers, officials said late Wednesday. Residents of the Ohio village upended by a freight train derailment packed a gymnasium demanding reassurances after toxic chemicals spilled and burned in a huge plume over their homes and businesses.
