Neighbors serve up concerns in heated tennis court proposal meeting
Students and neighbors had a heated meeting in the Brady Educational Center auditorium Tuesday night to voice concerns and discuss St. Thomas’ tennis court proposal.
St. Thomas-affiliated individuals fall at midterm election
Three St. Thomas-affiliated individuals ran for office in the midterm election Tuesday, although none won their respective races.
St. Thomas professor Teresa Collett ran as a Republican congressional candidate in the 4th District, which includes all of Ramsey County and small parts of Dakota and Ramsey counties. She lost to Democrat Betty McCollum, who has held the representative position since 2000.

STAR passes out free subs for National Sandwich Day
St. Thomas Activities and Recreation handed out 200 free sub sandwiches Wednesday in celebration of National Sandwich Day.
A look back at the Tommie Award, university now accepting nominations
St. Thomas is now accepting applications for the 2011 Tommie Award, an award with a long history dating back 80 years to 1931. The prestigious award is given to a St. Thomas senior based on his or her leadership, service and scholarship with the university.

The eerie Cretin Hall basement opened its doors Wednesday night for the 10th annual “Haunted Cretin” event.
St. Thomas partying history includes keg rolls, beer at dances
Keg rolls on the quad, Oktoberfest celebrations, all-you-can-drink beer – St. Thomas dances and events were different in the past.
“We always used to have a big Halloween party in the field house,” said Carrie Cleary, who graduated in 1987. “The drinking age was 19, and we had beer served right there.”
Storm knocks down branches on campus, makes travel challenging
The storm system that many have called the “Hurricane of the Midwest” hit campus Tuesday evening. Stray branches and knocked-over benches could be seen around campus.
