St. Thomas students traveled to the St. Paul Capitol building Thursday, urging legislators to soften college students’ financial burden when the State Grant Program budget is set for the 2010-11 academic year.
Students participating in the Day at the Capitol event, organized by the Minnesota Private College Council, spoke to legislators from their home districts.

The St. Thomas chamber singers will perform a concert Sunday, March 21, entitled “An Evening of Musical Theater Selections.” The concert will be held in Brady Education Center from 6 to 7:30 p.m., and the tickets are free.

While finding a new house can be an exciting but frustrating experience for for college students, nearly half of St. Thomas’ student body lives off-campus.
St. Thomas’ soon-to-be May graduates are entering the job market at a tough time.
In February, the U.S. jobless rate held steady at 9.7 percent and 36,000 positions were cut around the country. Those numbers are lower than expected, signaling that the job market may be healing slowly.
This year, for the first time ever, Murray Hall served as the living quarters for 109 male St. Thomas students. Despite pulling off the switch without many problems, Murray Hall will once again be for the ladies when students hit campus next fall.

Two students will hit the road, or the river, when summer arrives, to embark on a 1,800-mile canoe journey northward. In May, juniors Luke Olson and Lindsey Lee will leave from northern Minnesota and end in the Hudson Bay about two months later.

Loewen, a nationally esteemed author and sociologist, shared this story with about 200 people during his lecture Monday night in the O’Shaughnessy Educational Center auditorium.
