Recently, St. Thomas administrators have discussed building tennis courts in the green space just to the west of Brady Educational Center. Although some neighbors vehemently disagree, building the tennis courts would be a good idea.
Kids meals in San Francisco aren’t so happy anymore.
That’s because the city council has effectively banned the McDonald’s Happy Meal. The council voted earlier this month to require fast food meals with toys to meet certain nutritional guidelines.
According to Facebook, the average user has 130 friends. More than 100 friends is a lot to keep track of. The statistic raises the question: Does the life we lead online distract us from the one we live in the real world?
The saying “boys will be boys” seems to carry a lot of weight. Regardless if a male is five or 25, the idea of an impish boy just being foolish offers an excuse for plenty of things.
Since I’ve been a St. Thomas student, the sports that have garnered the most fan interest have been football, men’s basketball, baseball and volleyball.
It’s not surprising.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. When I think of the importance of breast cancer awareness, many ideas come to mind: promoting practices for early detection, relaying statistics about breast cancer and donating to research.
During the civil rights movement of the 1960s, universities were the location for many protests. Students and supporters demonstrated about controversial issues to raise awareness for their causes.
St. Thomas homecoming is just around the corner and Tommies will be attending football games and even tailgating, but one aspect of typical college homecomings will be noticeably absent: a large Greek system on campus.
We are writing this letter to tell you three simple things. We hope that you read carefully and can find it in yourselves to trust us. Know that we are being real; we know how you feel and know how difficult it can be.
This year, the buildup to the annual clash in our school’s great rivalry is having a shadow cast on it by the administration’s commitment to clamp down on students’ T-shirts at the game.
I’ve seen the Facebook group and received the messages, but I will not be purchasing a Tommie-Johnnie T-shirt.
Everyone has a favorite place on campus. For many people, including myself, it was Rockey Grounds Coffee in the Brady Educational Center on South Campus.
After St. Kate’s campus-wide tobacco ban, there has been a lot of talk about how St. Thomas would benefit from a similar policy.

Last week’s welcome events reminded me of the incredible rush I had exactly one year ago when I was a freshman coming to St. Thomas. There was a mix of excitement and nervousness for me as I was moving my stuff into Murray Hall and meeting the three men I would be spending the next nine months with.
