The Tommie football team won its home opener Saturday at Palmer Field, defeating the Wisconsin-River Falls Falcons 27-3.
“I think we cleaned up a lot of things that I was not really happy with the last game, primarily the turnovers that we had in the opener and some of the miscommunications,” coach Glenn Caruso said. “I think overall it was good.”

Although the Tommie men’s golf team is returning six of its top seven players this season, the team has many new additions to the program including a new head coach and invite-only tryouts.

After the Tommie football team’s impressive 40-7 victory over the St. Norbert Green Knights in De Pere, Wis. last Saturday, junior quarterback Dakota Tracy and coach Glenn Caruso echoed similar statements: There’s still plenty of room for improvement on this football team.

The scoring came early and often for the St. Thomas men’s soccer team (2-1) as it recorded all three of its goals in the first half to defeat Northwestern College 3-0.
The Tommies hosted the Loras College Hawks, a team ranked seventh in the nation, in a non-conference game on St. Thomas’ south field Saturday.
De Pere, WI — The Tommie football team throttled the St. Norbert Green Knights 40-7 Saturday in the Green Knights’ new field, Donald J. Schneider Stadium.
“We’re going to enjoy this one tonight, but we have to get working tomorrow,” Coach Glenn Caruso said. “There’s a lot that we can clean up.”
The Tommie football team is traveling nearly five hours to De Pere, Wis. to open the season against St. Norbert College, a program with a successful history and a 9-1 record in 2009.
The Tommies faced the University of Wisconsin-Stout Blue Devils in St. Paul Wednesday on St. Thomas’ south field. Team captain sophomore Callan Faulkner said the players had high hopes for their first home game.
The St. Thomas community saw its fair share of construction around campus this past summer.
But while Opus Corporation was tearing down buildings and putting up new ones, another type of construction was going on: Coach Glenn Caruso was busy building an improved Tommie football team.
