The St. Thomas women’s hockey team took on St. Olaf last weekend, defending a five-game MIAC winning streak. But the Oles put an end to that streak on Friday night in Mendota Heights, Minn.
Carleton’s missed free throws give men’s bball playoff berth
Carleton missed five free throws in the final 15.9 seconds to allow host St. Thomas to sneak away with a 58-55 win Saturday.
Carleton outplayed St. Thomas for much of the game but shot nine for 24 from the free-throw line. Jeremy Sutherland led the Knights with 16 points, while the Tommies were led by 13 points from Alex Healy to come back from a six-point halftime deficit.

Women’s bball wins 5 of 6 over J-Term
The women’s basketball team started a run of wins over J-Term with a bang by posting a 24-point blowout win over the Bethel Royals on Jan. 6. Junior Rachel Booth’s double-double in the game (14 points, 10 rebounds) and junior Becky Theisen’s 17 points off the bench helped St. Thomas shake a two-game losing streak.

The men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams have been busy over J-term, smashing personal records and establishing themselves as top contenders in the MIAC.
The teams are returning several national qualifiers and have many freshmen who are making significant contributions.

The front office of the rebuilding Seattle Seahawks announced the organization’s next general manager Tuesday.
