Volleyball’s regional bracket has six top-ranked teams

After losing to St. Olaf in the MIAC playoffs, the St. Thomas volleyball team received a second chance with an at-large bid into the NCAA Division III playoffs. The sixth-seeded Tommies boarded the bus this morning on the way to Oshkosh, Wis., where the Tommies will take on the third-seeded University of Wisconsin-Whitewater at 12:30, Thursday in the first round.

Former basketball stars team up and beat Blizzards

Some familiar former St. Thomas men’s basketball players took to the court again at St. Paul Central High School, Nov. 7.

Recent St. Thomas graduates B.J. Viau and Lonnie Robinson among others geared up for the exhibition game against the Minnesota Blizzards of the American Basketball Association. The team of graduated Tommies took down the Blizzards 88-77.

Next two Vikings home games not sold out

The Minnesota Vikings still have thousands of tickets left to sell for their next two home games and could face a television blackout if they don’t sell out the Metrodome.

According to chief marketing officer Steve LaCroix, about 4,000 tickets remain for the Nov. 15 game against Detroit and about 3,500 tickets remain the Nov. 22 game against Seattle.

Men’s hockey starts out 1-0-1

Junior Rob Johnson’s late game goal was enough for the men’s hockey team to force a 1-1 tie with St. John’s Sunday night at the MIAC Showcase held at the Bloomington Ice Garden.
