Editors note: this is an updated version of the COVID-19 update posted Dec. 6 to accurately represent a correction made on the Center for Well-being’s website.
Forty-one positive COVID-19 cases were reported by St. Thomas’ Center for Well-Being during the week of Nov. 27, which is the highest number of cases reported in the fall semester.
Thirty-eight cases were students and three were employees. The dashboard reported that thirty-four cases were from the St. Paul campus and seven were from Minneapolis.
“This total is reflective of the increased numbers across the state and was anticipated based on coming off the Thanksgiving holiday,” the COVID-19 Dashboard message said.
The dashboard also noted that face coverings are required indoors and encouraged booster vaccinations.
This is a decrease of six cases from the same week in 2020.
As of Dec. 6, the Center for Well-Being reported a 90.2% university-wide vaccination rate. University employees have a 93.6% vaccination rate and students have a 89.5% vaccination rate.
The Minnesota Department of Health reported that 3,667,362 Minnesotans have at least one vaccine dose and that 3,392,658 have completed the vaccine series as of Dec 2.
St. Thomas releases COVID-19 data every Monday on the COVID-19 Dashboard, which also offers information about reporting positive cases and getting vaccinated.
