Football defeats Eau-Claire 49-0

St. Thomas was able to add to its large halftime lead by scoring two touchdowns in the second half at home Saturday to finish with a 49-0 win over Wisconsin Eau-Claire.

Quarterback Ronnie Jones connected with tight end Grant Slavik for a 23-yard touchdown with two minutes left in the third.

Running back Nick Rice scored the last touchdown of the game with a 10-yard rush in the fourth.

The Tommie defensive played just as strong as it did in the first half, limiting the Blugold’s to 151 total offensive yards throughout the game. Defensive back Henry Weisman had one interception in the third for a touchback.

The Tommies have a record of 3-0 and the Blugolds are 2-1.

Running back Josh Parks had a huge first half for the Tommies, running the ball 58 yards on 11 carries, and scored his third and fourth touchdowns of the season with a 4-yard run touchdown run in the first and a 3-yard run in the second. Running back Tom Loeffler ran for 60 yards on seven carries and had scored on a 1-yard run late in the second.

Parks also threw his first passing touchdown of the season with a 14-yard connection with quarterback Jacques Perra.

Perra completed 15 of 23 passes for 224 yards and a touchdown to Emitt Peisert late in the second quarter.

Defensive back Sam Gerrety led the Tommies defense to a strong push in the first half. Gerrety had two interceptions in the first half.
