Football’s playoff hopes fall with 21-15 loss to Bethel

Arden Hills, Minn. — Despite having a strong push near the end of the game, the No. 9 St. Thomas football team (6-2 MIAC, 8-2 overall) ended the regular season falling to the No. 22 Bethel Royals (7-1 MIAC, 9-1 overall)  21-15 Saturday at Royal Stadium.

The Tommies will now have to wait until the selection show to see if their season will continue.

The Tommies struggled in the first half with only 23 yards. Running back Josh Parks lead the struggling rushing game only obtaining 16 yards on nine attempts.

The Royals offense were able to attack the Tommie defense early in the run game ending the half with 188 rushing yards. Running back Sam Gibas started the game with a 41-yard touchdown, followed by a 93-yard touchdown scamper by quarterback Jaren Rosten.

This was the first time the Tommies fell to both the Johnnies and the Royals in the same season since 2014.
