Get your ghoul on this Halloween weekend

With so much pressure to find great Halloween costumes, who has time to plan weekend activities? There’s just not enough time in a day to do it all, and if you aren’t a fan of crowded house parties or high bar tabs, your options become rather limited.

Yet not all hope has gone to the hollows. Check out these campus festivities if you’re looking for some family friendly celebrations.

Thursday: Halloween dance, 9 p.m. in Ireland Hall

For the past few years, Ireland and John Paul II hall councils have hosted a Halloween dance in the Ireland Hall basement, and this year, they’re bringing the fun to the dorm once again.

The dance, which is open to all students, starts at 9 p.m. Thursday and runs until 1 a.m.

A DJ will host the fun and students can treat themselves to candy during breaks from the dance floor. At the end of the night, the hall councils are holding a costume contest with prizes for the best dressed.

Thursday: Freshman Halloween party, 8 p.m. in MHC 304

Freshman looking to pre-game before the Ireland dance can check out another Halloween get together Thursday. USG and the freshman class council are hosting a party in the Murray-Herrick Center ballroom (room 304) from 8 to 9:30 p.m.

The holiday party will feature free food, music and a raffle. As an added bonus, the first 300 students to drop by will get a free T-shirt. Who could deny that offer? All freshman students are invited to attend.

Saturday: All Hallow’s Eve event, 8 p.m. in Koch Fireside

Come the day of Halloween, students can get things started with some free food, a movie and another costume contest. Resident advisers from Brady and Dowling halls are hosting the event from 8 to 10 p.m. Saturday in Koch Commons’ fireside lounge.

The best costumes will win prizes, and students have the chance to answer trivia question about Halloween festivities around the world. A showing of Disney’s 1993 movie “Hocus Pocus” is scheduled to round out the night.

Saturday: Halloween movie marathon, 8 p.m. in MHC 304

Residence Life is hosting the weekend’s final campus celebration, a Halloween movie marathon from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. Saturday in the Murray-Herrick Center ballroom (room 304). Snacks and candy will be provided, while organizers play about three holiday-related movies.

Unfortunately, your article missed one more ghoulish gathering:

Thursday: Commuter Center Halloween Pary, Convo Hour in the Commuter Center (MHC 17)

The Commuter Center’s Halloween Party will take place over Convo Hour on Thursday in the Commuter Center on the lower level of Murray-Herrick. Open to all students, the party will feature cauldrons upon cauldrons full of candy, treats and drink. And of course, a costume contest with big prizes for the top three costumes.

We’ll also be handing out Commuter Center ID card holders and our famous [I♥2QMÜT] t-shirts.
