Library welcomes therapy animals for Study Monday

The popular therapy dogs for “Study Monday” made their fourth appearance this week.

A golden retriever puppy, a 90-pound chocolate lab, a rare Löwchen and several other therapy companions brought relief to students in the O’Shaughnessy-Frey library, and this semester, the dogs were joined by smaller mammalian sidekicks, such as rabbits and guinea pigs.

“It’s nice to have some time with the hounds. I haven’t been able to see my dog Tommy in a while. I miss his silky mitts,” freshman Tanner Ahlborn said.

Circulation Supervisor Karen Batdorf said the intent was to give students stress relief during a stressful time.

“You see a lot of sad, tense people—kind of tired looking students. And when you come down to the event area, everybody is smiling,” Batdorf said.
