Longboard club rolls across campus in flash mob

St. Thomas longboarders rolled through campus on Thursday night in a “flash mob” as a way to promote the St. Thomas Longboard club and Tommie Ski and Snowboard club.

Senior longboarder Sam Litin said he was excited about being a part of the flash mob and knew it would be a success.

“It’s cool to see all different types of skateboarders and longboarders come together as a group,” Litin said. “This event for sure caught people’s attention and will attract many new members to the two clubs.”

Senior Gary Wong, Longboard Club president, said there are a lot of reasons students should join the club.

“It’s a good way to relax, clear your mind, and just have a good time with your buddies,” Wong said.

Both clubs are open for anyone to join and don’t require any previous longboarding, ski, or snowboarding knowledge.

Senior Karl Tvedte, Longboard club event coordinator, said he’s an avid longboarder and thinks it’s a great way to spend free time.

“Longboarding’s just a fun activity and a healthy hobby,” Tvedte said. “It’s a good way for people to hang out together and make new friends.”

The flash mob drew attention from students all around campus since the group sounded off blow horns during the routine.

“We made plenty of noise and people definitely noticed us going through campus,” senior longboarder Mike Schmitt said.
