Jaran Roste’s 216 yards of total offense and a defense that held Hamline to minus-33 yards rushing added up to a 33-0 victory for the Royals on Saturday at St. Paul.

Roste completed 10 of 20 passes for 154 yards and a touchdown, and rushed for 63 yards on seven carries with two touchdowns. Roste’s efforts included a 35-yard scoring run in the second quarter and a 47-yard scoring pass to Joel Koenecke in the third quarter. Roste also opened the scoring at 6 minutes, 23 seconds of the first quarter with a 7-yard touchdown run.

Mike Delich added a 5-yard touchdown run in the second quarter, and Gideon Erharbor closed things out with an 8-yard run 13 minutes into the third quarter.

For the game, Bethel (5-1 MIAC, 7-1 overall) outgained Hamline (0-6, 0-8) 493 yards to 79. Defensive end Kyle Kilgore led the Royals with six tackles, three for losses, and three sacks.

St. John’s 42, Concordia 14

Concordia (2-4, 3-5) hung in with unbeaten St. John’s for three quarters, then three consecutive passing touchdowns put the game away for the Johnnies at Moorhead.

Adam Essler’s 2-yard run opened the scoring for St. John’s five minutes into the game, but with 1:37 to play in the quarter, Concordia quarterback Blake Kragness capped a 72-yard drive with a 4-yard touchdown run, tying it at 7-7.

The Johnnies went up 21-7 before the half, with Will Gillach catching a 3-yard scoring pass from Jackson Erdmann at 7:53 and Auger hooking up with Erdmann from 11 yards out at 3:22.

But four minutes into the third quarter, Concordia’s Dane Ringquist broke loose for 51 yards and a touchdown.

St. John’s went to its bag of tricks, with wide receiver Gillach throwing a 79-yard scoring pass to fellow receiver Andrew VanErp with 9:56 to play in the third.

Erdmann put the game away in the fourth quarter with a 30-yard touchdown pass to Essler and a 15-yarder to Jared Streit.

Erdmann completed 16 of 25 passes for 173 yards and four scores. VanErp caught six passes for 112 yards.

For Concordia, Kragnes hit on 17 of 28 passes for 157 yards. Ringquist led all rushers with 120 yardss on 13 carries, and Kragnes added 17 yards on 20 carries.

Gustavus 62, Carleton 28

Quarterback Michael Veldman passed for 417 passing yards, his second-best passing effort at Gustavus, and accounted for five touchdowns at Northfield.

Veldman completed 22-of-32 passes for three touchdowns. He also ran the ball for two scores. Josh Kirk caught seven passes for 150 yards and two touchdowns, and Bryce Panning also had seven catches for 139 yards and a score, a 43-yard catch and run in the second quarter.

David Peal rushed 11 times for 91 yards for Gustavus (4-2, 5-3), with three scores. He broke loose for a 62-yard touchdown run in the third quarter.

“The thing that impressed me most today was that we made some really big plays in key moments,” Gustavus coach Peter Haugen said. “We had some big catches on third down with our guys going up for the ball.”

The 62 points were the most by a Gustavus team since 2015, when the Gusties racked up 63 points against Carleton.

Matt Berkner led the Gustavus defense with eight tackles and a sack.

For Carleton (2-5, 3-6), Christian Zaytoun completed 32 of 47 passes with three touchdowns and two interceptions. Mack Journell caught 10 passes for 108 yards and a score, and Dylan Rye caught two touchdown passes.
