Jackson Erdmann threw three touchdown passes, and Kai Barber ran for one touchdown and caught a pass for another as St. John’s (3-0 MIAC, 4-0 overall) handed Augsburg (0-3, 2-3) its third consecutive loss 52-0 on Saturday in Minneapolis.
Kenneth Udoibok opened the scoring midway through the first period with a 1-yard run, then over a span of 9 minutes of the first and second quarters, Erdmann hit Tommy Auger with a 7-yard scoring pass, Jared Streit from 11 yards and Nick Jensen with a 9-yarder.
Barber ran 2 yards to score with 9:14 to play in the third quarter and caught a 5-yard touchdown pass from Ben Alvord later in the period.
The Johnnies out-gained Augsburg 498-137 in total offense with a 214-32 advantage rushing.
Zach Barwick kicked six extra points and a 22-yard field goal to finish the day with nine points. Barwick leads St. John’s and the MIAC in scoring with 3 of 5 field goals and 24 of 25 extra-point kicks for 33 points.
St. John’s coach Gary Fasching posted his 50th victory a (50-11) and his 36th MIAC victory (36-7). He is second on the St. John’s victory list behind John Gagliardi.
Bethel 48, Carleton 0
Jared Roste ran for four touchdowns, the key part of Bethel’s crushing ground game, and the Royals defense did the rest at Northfield.
Roste’s longest run went 48 yards for a touchdown as time ran out in the fourth quarter. That came after he dashed 14 yards to score 5 minutes into the game. He added a 1-yard scoring run hear the end of the first half and a 2-yarder midway through the third quarter.
Kyle Peach and Dawson Brown returned interceptions for touchdowns while the Royals held Carleton (1-3, 0-4) to 135 yards of offense and a minus-7 yards rushing. Brendan Whaled added a third interception.
St. Olaf 41, Hamline 7
St. Olaf’s Ricardo Johnson III and Khayleb Willis were too much for Hamline to handle as the Oles racked up 489 yards of offense under the lights in St. Paul.
Johnson completed 11 of 21 passes for 225 yards and three touchdowns, and gained 55 yards rushing with two scores. Willis carried the ball 23 times for 152 yards and two touchdowns.
Gabe Alada caught two scoring passes, including a 75 yarder late in the third quarter. Willis closed out the scoring early in the fourth quarter with a 75 yard touchdown run.
