According to the CDC, over 38 million adults face some sort of physical mobility limitations. At St. Thomas, an estimated 10 students every semester need some sort of assistance getting around campus and through the university’s buildings.
Special assignments reporters Emily Sweeney and Noah Brown followed one student for a day to document what kind of challenges those in with mobility limitations face on the St. Paul campus.
I’m retired from UST, but I have to comment on this. Mostly due to arthritis and knee problems, my last two years there grew increasingly difficult. Even moving the shuttle stop from the arches to Anderson made getting around more inconvenient and stressful. I’ll never understand why that was done – maybe for the convenience of the shuttle drivers??
