3 sons of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh were killed in an Israeli airstrike, said relatives and official Hamas media. Haniyeh accused Israel of acting in “the spirit of revenge and murder,” there was no immediate comment from the Israeli army.
The two sides have been involved in months of cease-fire talks. It was not clear what effect the strike would have on those talks.
The Arizona Supreme Court has given the go-ahead to enforce a long-dormant law that bans nearly all abortions. This 1864 law was blocked after the U.S. Supreme Court issued its 1973 Roe v. Wade decision.
The high court said enforcement won’t begin for at least two weeks but it could be up to two months.
This ruling puts abortion rights front and center in the battle of Arizona for the 2024 presidential election.
Track and field becomes the first sport to pay prize money at the Olympics. World Athletics said it would pay $50,000 to the gold medalist in Paris. Prize money for silver and bronze medalists are planned to start from the 2028 Olympics.
The prize money will come out of the share of Olympic revenue that the International Olympic Committee distributes to World Athletics.
