St. Thomas’ McNeely Hall was evacuated Wednesday morning and classes were cancelled due to a bomb threat received by the university. Officials closed the university’s St. Paul campus at 11:42 a.m.
Public Safety sent out an alert at 10:18 a.m saying “evacuate this building and the surrounding buildings.” Students, faculty and staff were instructed to go to the John Roach Center and the Anderson Student Center.
Summit and Grand avenues were blocked off and police officers, including the St. Paul Police bomb squad, were on the scene moments after. According to the alert, the FBI has been consulted.
In local news, St. Paul police responded to a 911 call reporting an assault on Monday evening.
When officers arrived at the house in the West Seventh neighborhood, they found Matthew Richard Schramm unresponsive inside and paramedics pronounced him dead.
Police are investigating the death of this 33-year-old man as a homicide.
They questioned the man who called 911 and arrested him on an unrelated warrant.
