A local militant Islamic State group took responsibility for the Easter Day bombings of hotels and churches in Sri Lanka. The attack killed at least 321 people and wounded another 500.

Sri Lanka’s minister of defense claims the suicide bombings were done in retaliation for the New Zealand mosque attacks in March, but no evidence was given.

The country is in a state of emergency and Sri Lanka officials warn more bombs are out there.

Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un on Thursday for a much anticipated summit meeting. The meeting will take place in the Russian city of Vladivostok. The location was kept secret for a long time and was chosen for its proximity to North Korea.

Talks will focus on North Korea’s nuclear program. Russia would like to see positive trends in the denuclearization of North Korea.

Kim will also focus on improving the country’s economic standings during the meeting.

The MIAC President’s Council met as scheduled Thursday to consider bylaw changes that could lead to St. Thomas’ expulsion, but no vote was taken.

In a written statement, MIAC Commissioner Dan McKane said discussions on the topic between the 13 institutions will continue at future meetings.
