Small towns in Oklahoma started a long cleanup Monday after the tornadoes flattened homes and buildings and killed four people, including an infant, widening a destructive outbreak of severe weather across the middle of the U.S.
Storms that began late Saturday in Oklahoma injured at least 100 people, and tornadoes on Friday in Iowa and Nebraska also caused wide destruction and resulted in one fatality.
Scotland’s first minister, Humza Yousaf, resigned on monday, after being weakened by a finance scandal and divisions over transgender rights. He was ultimately brought down after removing the green party from his coalition due to climate change differences. His resignation followed as he was unable to form a majority in Scotland’s parliament.
A suspected missile attack by Yemen’s Houthi rebels targeted a ship in the red sea on monday. This was the latest assault in their campaign against international shipping in the maritime route.
The attack occurred off the coast of Muka, Yemen, resulting in an explosion near a merchant vessel, but both the vessel and crew were reported safe.
