On Sunday night, more presidents and leaders expressed their disapproval of the Ecuadorian government’s decision to break into the Mexican embassy. Criticism increased when Mexico’s ambassador and other personnel arrived in Mexico City on Sunday afternoon after departing Quito, Ecuador. 

President Andres Obrador of Mexico dissolved all diplomatic ties with Ecuador after Friday’s raid when they violated long-established international records.

A total solar eclipse will cross North America today, moving from the southwest to the northeast. Sections of Mexico, the United States, and Canada will experience brief moments of darkness, starting at eleven AM. 

Researchers will observe animal behavior in many zoos across the United States during the solar eclipse. During past eclipses, scientists noted individual sightings of unusual animal behavior, so more researchers are studying the altered behavior of zoo, domestic and wild animals. 

The Director of Retention and Student Success at the University of Saint Thomas, Tonia Jones Peterson, was highlighted for developing the Tommie High Five.

The Tommie High Five is a student alert process, allowing faculty to encourage students by letting them know what is going on well in the classroom or that they’ve shown improvement, helping them feel seen, known and valued.
