The Pro Volleyball Federation, North America’s premier professional women’s volleyball league held its first-ever player draft on Monday. During this event, 35 collegiate players were selected, granting them the opportunity to pursue their volleyball careers at a professional level in the United States.
Kylie Murr, the libero for the Minnesota Gophers, was chosen in the third round, 21st overall, by the Las Vegas Thrill. After four seasons at Ohio State, where she set the record for most digs Murr transferred to Minnesota for her final season in 2023. She started in all 30 matches and received both Avca all-north region and first-team all-big Ten accolades.
A Jewish couple experienced an antisemitic attack and attempted robbery on their way to their local synagogue in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, on Saturday.
Raphy and Rebecca, in a video interview, said the attack left them shocked and shaken, but more determined to practice their faith in the rising of antisemitism across the U.S.
Police arrested Jarris Jay Silagi and booked him on allegations of assault with a deadly weapon, attempted robbery, and elder abuse, with the added allegation that he was motivated by hate, according to Beverly Hills police.
Andre Braugher, an Emmy award-winning actor known for his roles in ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ and ‘Homicide: Life on the Street’ died Monday, at the age of 61. Braugher died of a brief illness, according to his publicist.
The United Nations General Assembly voted by a large majority in favor of demanding an immediate humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza.
The UN General Assembly met on Tuesday afternoon in an emergency session. They approved the resolution 154 to 10 votes with 23 abstentions. The U.S. was one of the 10 other nations to oppose.
