Eight buildings on the University of St. Thomas’ north campus lost power around 8:20 p.m. Monday. Facilities Management cited a failed ground water pump system in the main electrical vault inside O’Shaughnessy Educational Center as the cause. Power was restored around 11:42 p.m.
The eight buildings affected included Dowling Hall, Murray Hall, Brady Hall, Ireland Hall, O’Shaughnessy Educational Center, O’Shaughnessy-Frey Library, Anderson Student Center and the Anderson Athletic and Recreation Complex.
About an hour before the power outage, the AARC field house flooded after a softball hit a sprinkler head. St. Thomas first-year softball player Coryn Jacobson’s ball hit a sprinkler head, flooding the field house and causing a building evacuation.
Water was also leaking from the ceiling into the corner of the women’s locker room. The power outage and flooding were unrelated. Check the latest update here.
At a rowdy event Monday at a Manchester, N.H. bar, Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) made her final push for votes ahead of today’s New Hampshire primary.
Amid chants and beer, Klobuchar argued she was the candidate who could unite the nation and bring decency back to the White House.
Klobuchar has been buoyed by a string of New Hampshire newspaper endorsements as well as an infusion of cash and some pool projecting a third place finish.
