Sunday night, National Security Advisor John Bolton made a statement saying that the U.S. is deploying the U.S.S. Abraham Lincoln carrier strike group to the U.S. central command region in the Red Sea.

This action is in response to “a number of troubling and escalatory indications and warnings” relating to U.S. presence in the Middle East. The Associated Press learned from a current defense official, who spoke under conditions of anonymity, that there are “clear indications” that Iran and its proxy forces are prepared to attack U.S. interests in the region.

Bolton claims in his public statement that the U.S. wants to “send a message that unrelenting force” will meet any attack on U.S. interests or those of its allies in the region.
