Minnesota bars and restaurants must stop serving at 10 p.m. and attendance at weddings, funeral and social gatherings will be limited under new restrictions Gov. Tim Walz announced Tuesday to try to slow the accelerating spread of the coronavirus.
The new rules, which take effect Friday, are aimed at young adults, ages 18 to 35, who are often carriers of the virus without showing symptoms and are among the primary spreaders in the state.
The new mandate will go into place this Friday. Restaurants will be allowed to do takeout orders past 10 p.m.

The St. Thomas dance team will move under the supervision of the athletic department starting July 1, 2021, and because university athletics will transition to DI in the fall of 2021, the team will move from the Open Division to Division I of the Universal Dance Association.
The UDA houses three divisions of college teams: Division IA; Division I; and Open NCAA II, NCAA III, Jr College and NAIA. The announcement came in an email to the dance team from Club Sports Director Kevin Manson, who indicated the decision was overdue.
“This transition will provide the dance team with greater resources, increased visibility and will foster a better working relationship with staff who oversee the athletic department’s gameday operations,” Manson wrote.
