Jury selection in the trial of Brooklyn Center police officer Kim Potter began Tuesday.

Potter said she meant to use her taser instead of her gun when she killed Daunte Wright at a traffic stop in April.

Attorney’s are expected to review potential jurors’ attitudes towards policing, protests, and the Black Lives Matter and blue lives matter movements.

Potter has been charged with first and second- degree manslaughter. Opening statements are set for December 8th.

The World Health Organization warned Monday that the Omicron variant of the coronavirus could lead to surges with “severe consequences.”

While no deaths linked to Omicron have been reported so far, little is known about the variant, including whether it is more contagious, more likely to cause serious illness or more able to evade vaccines.

The WHO stressed that countries should accelerate vaccinations as quickly as possible.

15 positive cases of COVID-19 were reported to the Center for Well- Being during the week of November 22nd.

As of November 29th, the Center for Well- Being reported an 89.9% university-wide vaccination rate with a 92.8% rate among employees and an 89.2% rate among students.

The COVID-19 dashboard continues to report that the total number of cases is within a manageable range and that there is currently no evidence of classroom transmission.
