President Donald Trump is scheduled to hold a rally Thursday evening in Minneapolis in his bid to win Minnesota in the 2020 election. His arrival comes as polls show Americans’ support for impeachment has ticked up in the weeks since house democrats launched an impeachment investigation.

Minneapolis is a difficult place for the president to try to bask in the glow of support. Trump won just 18% of the vote in the dense, relatively diverse and liberal congressional district where he’s staging his rally.

While his GOP allies are trying to reverse the trend, Trump’s self-defense may be the best preview of how he intends to fight back in the weeks ahead.

Two Florida businessmen tied to President Trump’s personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani have been arrested on campaign finance violations.

Lev Parnas and Igor Fruman were arrested on a four-count indictment that includes charges of conspiracy, making false statements to the federal election commission and falsification of records.

The indictments mark the first criminal charges related to the Ukraine controversy. While they do not suggest wrongdoing by the president, they are likely to add fuel to the House impeachment inquiry, raising additional questions about whether those close to Trump and Giuliani sought to use their influence to affect U.S. foreign policy decisions.
