Hurricane Fiona struck Puerto Rico’s southwest coast on Sunday as it unleashed landslides, knocked out power grids, and ripped up asphalt. Hundreds of people were evacuated or rescued across the island as floodwaters rose quickly. Forecasters said the storm threatened to dump historic levels of rain on Sunday and Monday with up to 30 inches. Fiona hit 2 days before the anniversary of Hurricane Maria, a category 4 storm that struck on September 20, 2017. The storm destroyed the island’s power grid and caused nearly 3,000 deaths.

Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral was held in England today. Crowds gathered to say goodbye to the Queen who had ruled for 70 years. People across Britain paused for a minute of silence at 8 pm on Sunday in memory of their Queen. Westminster Hall had a constant stream of mourners who paused for 60 seconds to reflect on the only monarch most had ever known. Monday was declared a public holiday in honor of the Queen who died on September 8th.

Governer Tim Walz revealed a 69-page plan to help fight climate change. The plan was announced one week before early-voting begins. Waltz says he announced the plan this close to the election because it took so long to complete.
