Prime Minister Boris Johnson gave a clear message to the British people today, a new virus restriction order that could last six months.
This comes as a proactive measure as Britain is expecting a bigger, second wave of COVID-19.
The new restrictions include face coverings inside taxis and other public transport, 15-person limits to weddings, and fines up to 10,000 pounds, equivalent to $12,800, for any violation of quarantine rules.
The latest COVID-19 numbers for the St. Thomas community show a total of 36 cases for the time period between Sept. 12 and 18.
The report, which comes from the university’s Center for Well-Being, measured nine cases for the week prior.
President Julie Sullivan sent out an email Monday telling the St. Thomas community, “No one needs to panic, but no one should be complacent.”
The Associated Press reported Monday that Jomoy Lee, a Minneapolis 17-year-old, has been charged for the killing of 17-year-old Andre Conley and the wounding of another man.
Lee is charged with second degree murder, attempted second degree murder, and two other counts for the Sept. 14 shooting that killed Conley. Lee was arrested following a police chase last Thursday and remains detained at the Hennepin County Juvenile Detention Center.
Lee is also charged with two counts of felony possession of a firearm and one count of fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle. Prosecutors are seeking to have Lee tried as an adult on all charges.
