From hip hop to swing dancing, PULSE’s On the Run show pleased audiences in two separate performances Friday night.

PULSE President Jennifer Gish said the shows went “so incredibly smoothly.”

“I have everyone in PULSE to thank for that,” Gish said. “Everyone was on their A-game. It went super, super well.”

Gish said the group’s choreographers have been preparing for the show all semester.

“We had 21 or 22 different dances this year, and every single one had to have their own individual practice space. So we pretty much take over the AARC every night, which is really fun,” she said.

Gish has been involved with the group since her freshman year and said it helped her find her niche at St. Thomas.

“St. Thomas is PULSE, and PULSE is St. Thomas. PULSE is my home, this is my family, this is where I met my best friends,” Gish said.

Junior Martha McKinley went to the show to support her performing friends, like senior dancer Christlo Gittens.

“I come for him. I come for friends like Christlo and people who are graduating,” McKinley said.

McKinley thought the audience was a big part of the show’s success.

“We think that this is the most emotionally involved audience of all the PULSE shows. Everyone was here and with it and present.”

But just once wasn’t enough for McKinley. She went to both the 5:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. shows.

“That’s a true PULSE fan, right?” McKinley said.
