The St. Thomas softball team’s 2017 season ended in consecutive NCAA Super Regional losses to St. Katherine’s, 1-0 and 8-4, on May 19 and May 21 in St. Paul.
In the final game, the Wildcats (38-12) scored four runs in the top of the seventh inning to break the teams’ 4-4 tie, a lead that the Tommies (38-11) could not top.
Pitcher Jessica Eppenberger was tagged with the loss in the final game, while St. Kate’s Krista Flugstad took her 29th win of the year.
The Wildcats moved on to the NCAA tournament in Oklahoma City, where they lost to Illinois-Wesleyan University and Williams College and were eliminated on May 26.
