St. Thomas’ softball team continued to flex its muscles by banging out 26 hits in two games in a series sweep of MIAC opponent Augsburg April 8 at home.
Senior pitcher Marta Radcliffe led the way allowing just one earned run in nine innings pitched. She also went 2-for-2 and batted in two runs.
In the second game, St. Thomas jumped out to an early five run lead and never looked back, beating the Auggies 8-5.
Tommie third basemen Kayla Boward was a perfect 3-for-3 on the day with three RBIs while teammates Alison Wright (1), Megan Noskowiak (1) and Rachel Tondryk (2) also batted in runners.
The sweep is the second of week for the Tommies.
St. Thomas took care of Carleton Wednesday in Northfield as the Tommies rallied from an early 3-1 deficit in the first game to win 6-3 and went on to win the second game in 7-1 in dominating fashion.
St. Thomas racked up 24 hits on the Knights and 11 different players got on base during the two-game span.
Senior Alison Wright reached a milestone 224 career hits during the series and is closing in on second place on the MIAC’s career hits list.
