Baylor won the NCAA men’s basketball championship 86-70 over Gonzaga Monday night.
The Bears roared to a 29-10 lead midway though the first half, the biggest deficit Gonzaga faced all year.
The Bulldogs got within 47-37 at halftime. Gonzaga then trimmed the deficit to single digits with 14:22 left in the second half, but Baylor answered at the other end.
In just over a minute, Baylor’s lead swelled to 16 points. The Bears coasted through the final five minutes to celebrate a national title that was nearly two decades in the making under head coach Scott Drew.
Stanford defeated Arizona 54-53 Sunday to win its first NCAA women’s basketball championship since 1992.
The Minnesota Twins home opener is Thursday at Target Field against the Seattle Mariners. The Twins are 3-1 with an opening day loss to the Milwaukee Brewers.
