Bemidji State ruled the third period Saturday night as it used four goals to blow open a tight game with St. Thomas and claim a 6-1 CCHA Men’s Hockey victory in Mendota Heights. BSU (10-6 overall, 8-2 CCHA) swept the weekend series as it allowed only three goals. It improved to 8-2 in road games and made it 10 wins in its last 13 contests.
The St. Thomas Men’s Basketball team fell to Drake on Sunday by a score of 74-64 in non-conference action. The Bulldogs entered the game with a 4-3 record on the season, including a 1-0 mark in MVC action.
The Minnesota Vikings were defeated by the Detroit Lions on Sunday afternoon. The loss leaves Minnesota at 5-7 with a home game against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday night. The Lions (1-10-1) ended a 15-game winless streak that lasted 364 days since winning at Chicago last season, giving first-year coach Dan Campbell his first victory with the franchise.
Kirill Kaprizov scored in the third round of a shootout and the Minnesota Wild beat the Toronto Maple Leafs 4-3 Saturday night for their sixth straight win. Jordan Greenway, Mats Zuccarello and Marcus Foligno had goals in regulation for Central Division-leading Minnesota, which has outscored its opponents 28-12 during the winning streak.
