On Wednesday the NBA released a statement saying that they will suspend the season. The MLB, NHL, MLS, multiple tennis leagues, Formula 1, Premier League and the PGA tour has postponed their schedule until further notice.

NCAA president Mike Emmert released a statement Thursday stating that all remaining winter and spring championship games are canceled. Four St. Thomas teams were scheduled to compete in NCAA championships events this weekend.

This includes Saturday’s sweet 16 matchups between the St. Thomas and St. John´s men´s basketball teams. The St. Thomas men’s hockey team was set to take on Lake Forest College in the first round of NCAA play in Illinois. men’s and women’s track and field had nine athletes qualify for the NCAA championship in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
