This past Saturday, May 6, was the Kentucky Derby, which was marred by controversy due to several horses dying prior to the race.

Seven horses died following injuries at the track since April 27, including Derby entrant Wild On Ice. Freezing Point and Chloe’s Dream were euthanized after injuries before Saturday’s Kentucky Derby that was ultimately won by Mage.

The St. Thomas softball team secured two wins out of three against Kansas City this past weekend, finishing the season 18-35 overall, which was three more wins than the 2022 season.

If eligible, the St. Thomas softball team would have qualified for the postseason.

The St. Thomas baseball team was less fortunate this past weekend, losing three games against Summit League opponent Oral Roberts.

The St. Thomas baseball team will hit the road for the last time this season Tuesday, May 9, playing two games against Western Illinois.
