The future of St. Thomas football remains undetermined after Patty Viverito, the commissioner for the Missouri Valley and Pioneer football leagues tamped down speculation of St. Thomas joining the conference. Viverito says that she has not yet been approached by St. Thomas for inclusion in either league. Athletic director Phil Esten responded by saying that St. Thomas is still pursuing a spot in the Pioneer League at a quote high level. The jump to D1 is still dependent on NCAA approval.

Allianz field is hosting the 89th annual Tommie-Johnnie football game tomorrow. The 4-1 St. Thomas football team is looking to bounce back after a loss to the Jonnies last year. The game is being played on grass, a playing surface unfamiliar to most college players. Though not at O’Shaughnessy Stadium, this is a home game for the Tommies. Allianz field holds a capacity of 19,400 people, and with a sold out high-profile game like Tommie-Jonnie it’s likely to be filled. Attendance is predicted to be the second highest showing on record for a Division 3 game, only behind the Tommie-Jonnie game from two years ago at Target Field.
