The Minnesota Vikings won their season opener against the Green Bay Packers 23-7 on Sunday, marking the first career win for head coach Kevin O’Connell.
Wide receiver Justin Jefferson played a big role in the win, burning the Packers for 184 yards and two touchdowns. Jefferson also set the Viking’s franchise record for yards in the first half with 158.
The St. Thomas football team won its home opener 32-6 against Michigan Tech on Saturday.
The win extends the Tommies’ regular-season home game winning streak to 32 games. The streak started in September of 2014 and the Tommies are 14-0 at home under coach Glenn Caruso.
The St. Thomas men’s soccer team lost its home opener 1-0 against non-conference opponent Stonehill College on Saturday.
The team returns to South Field on Sept. 21 to play Green Bay.
