The St. Thomas football team fell 44-3 to Northern Iowa on Saturday in their first game against a Division I opponent. Sophomore kicker Louis Hyde scored the lone points for the Tommies with a 35 yard field goal late in the first half.
The Tommies were down only 17 to three at the half but the Panthers surged in the second with 27 unanswered points.
St. Thomas will hold its home opener this Saturday against Butler at noon.
The Minnesota Vikings lost 34 to 33 to the Arizona Cardinals after kicker Greg Joseph missed a 37-yard field goal with four seconds left.
Women’s soccer lost three to two in overtime against Idaho Saturday. first-year Abby Brantner scored both goals for the Tommies, including the tying goal in the 89th minute.
