St. Ben’s snaps volleyball’s 36-game winning streak

The St. Thomas volleyball team’s 36-game win streak was broken Wednesday night as St. Ben’s beat the Tommies 3-1 at Concordia University.

A huge match from Emma Jaynes helped the No. 20-ranked Blazers top St. Thomas for the first time since 2004. St. Ben’s came back from 23-20 in the fourth set to close out the match.

St. Thomas drops to a first-place tie with St. Olaf. Both teams remain a half-game ahead of St. Ben’s.

Jaynes ended with 16 kills and 25 digs to lead the Blazers. Emily Foster tallied 55 assists and nine digs and Katie Bonine recorded 18 kills and eight digs for the Tommies.

St. Thomas plays this weekend in the Wisconsin-Oshkosh Tournament, and returns to conference play next Wednesday at home against Carleton.
