The St. Thomas football team announced its 2022 schedule Monday as it looks to build off an impressive 7-3 overall record from its inaugural Division I season in the Pioneer Football League last fall.
The season begins on Sept. 1 at Southern Utah, an FBS team in the Western Athletic Conference who finished 1-10 in the Big Sky last season. The Tommies will then return to O’Shaughnessy Stadium for two games, split up by the team’s bye week. October features three home games, including homecoming on Oct. 15 against Drake and a game against the 2021 conference champion, Davidson, on Oct. 8.

Coach Glenn Caruso looks to a diverse group of 26 new recruits to keep up the team’s strong, and perhaps surprising, performance in DI.
“I believe that we brought in the right types of young men,” Caruso told TommieMedia’s Cam Kauffman in an episode of The Locker Room. “Our assistant coaching staff did an amazing job going coast to coast and border to border.”
The roster currently lists five underclassmen quarterbacks that will play for the Tommies next season. Current sophomores Kristoff Kowalkowski and Brandon Smith, first-year Preston Thelemann, and signees Travis Plugge and Amari Powell will take the field next year.
