St. Thomas soccer players McKenna Lehman and Tucker Mann were named Summit League Ticket Smarter performers of the week Monday, the Summit League announced on its website.
Lehman, a first-year forward, received Offensive Peak Performer of the Week, whereas Mann, a junior goalkeeper, earned Defensive Peak Performer of the week.
Lehman recently moved from midfield to forward, prompting her two-goal weekend for the Tommies, according to women’s soccer coach Sheila McGill.
“She’s been working really hard, and she really stepped up into those games,” McGill said. “(Lehman) started connecting right away and was able to … find scoring opportunities quickly in both games.”
Lehman scored her first collegiate goal in the 58th minute against Missouri-Kansas City Friday and scored a second goal in the seventh minute against Oral Roberts Sunday.
Lehman’s goal against Oral Roberts led to a 2-1 win and her goal against Missouri-Kansas City helped the Tommies to a 1-1 tie.
Recaps of the games can be found here (Friday) and here (Sunday).
McGill also credited her entire team for its effort in helping Lehman earn the honor.
“I think it’s a great recognition for her and for the program,” McGill said. “The program is growing quickly, and we’re an incredibly young team, so for a freshman to be recognized is a great honor for us.”
Mann received his defensive honor for his performance in a 2-0 shutout of Eastern Illinois Saturday, earning him his first Division I victory.
Mann also was instrumental in last Wednesday’s 1-1 tie with Wisconsin-Green Bay as he made four saves, including two diving stops in the final five minutes of play to keep the score tied.
Wednesday’s recap can be found here.
