First-year midfield Jorge Pacheao and senior forward Jacek Nickowski each scored goals in the St. Thomas men’s soccer team’s 2-1 victory against Lindenwood Saturday at South Field.

The win over the Lions (3-10-1, 2-5-0 Summit League) marks the last home game of the season for the Tommies (3-10-2, 2-3-1).

St. Thomas outshot its opponent 12-7 during the game and benefited from seven corner kicks to Lindenwood’s six.

Pacheao put the Tommies up 1-0 in the 11th minute with a header set up by sophomore midfielder Keegan James.

Following the Tommie goal, Lindenwood tested junior goalkeeper Tucker Mann who saved two shots in the 24th minute to diffuse the Lion’s pressure.

Mann saved another shot in the 28th minute, ending the contest with four saves. After Mann’s third save, the Lions only managed one more shot in the first half.

The second half was back and forth, with both teams drawing yellow cards and receiving multiple corner kicks each.

Nickowski put the game out of reach for the Lions on an 89th-minute goal assisted by sophomore midfielder Connor Gist who moved past defenders to get Nickowski the ball.

The Tommies maintained their lead, winning 2-0 on Senior Day.

The Tommies travel to Evansville, Ind., to take on Southern Indiana on Wednesday, Nov. 2, at 2 p.m.
